This approach is based on the principle that each individual has the intrinsic ability to determine as well as to achieve his/her own life goals. We work with each client, much like a sports coach would, to help him/her understand and appreciate his/her potentials, identify strengths and areas that may need improvement, overcome obstacles that appear to be impeding the client from attaining the success he/she seeks, and to make the necessary changes or shifts to reach the desired goals.
Usually a client already has a desired goal, and the life coach uses a variety of skills and strategies to assist the client in achieving that goal. Life coaching, while typically geared towards working one-on-one, can be done either with an individual or with a group.
